Due to continued growth, AOC Archaeology Group will be recruiting an experienced Senior Project Officer or Project Manager to our London office. We are seeking applications from highly experienced professional archaeologists who are interested in developing their career further in a forward-looking RAO company who invest in staff and business development and who strive for the highest professional standard of work.
The post holder will be responsible for a programme of significant archaeological projects, mainly in Southern England, sometimes elsewhere, from fieldwork set-up and implementation through to post-excavation and completion. The post holder will work directly to AOC’s fieldwork divisional manager in the London office. The post holder will also assist with wider business development, tendering and management tasks in collaboration with our business development team and other senior managers. The post holder will assume the responsibility for managing and developing some of the staff in the project team South.
The successful candidate is likely to have at least 5 years experience in a senior archaeological project management role in a commercial context, and a rather longer track record in field archaeology.. The applicant would have held the responsibility for the co-ordination, management and completion of medium to large or long-duration fieldwork projects. Experience of tendering and post-excavation reporting to publication standard is essential. The applicant will have line managed and developed designated staff in a structured and professional manner.
It is essential that you are a good team member with a positive approach to commercial archaeology. You will also need to be self motivating and able to work under your own initiative. You will need to be willing to travel.
Degree level qualifications or above, IFA membership, a publication record and secondary specialisms or abilities would be advantageous. A Drivers Licence and computer literacy are essential. A CSCS card would be desirable.
